About Wishes, the Penny Project
A Creative Commons project begun by Jennifer Weigel in which pennies were altered with the addition of small stickers, each sticker voicing a wish or desire (some based on my own wants, others based on wishes that I perceive others to have). The pennies were left penny side up, sticker side down, on the sidewalk such that passer-bys will happen upon them and pick them up.

I have written over 300 wishes already. They kind of fall into themes. Here is a selection of my favorites:
I wish we would treat one another as equals.
I wish money didn’t matter.
I wish the world were at peace.
I wish I were at peace with myself.
I wish I didn’t care so much.
I wish people would be more aware.
I wish people wouldn’t abuse animals.
I wish people wouldn’t abuse each other.
I wish people wouldn’t abuse themselves.
I wish everyone could afford what they need.
I wish I could have said goodbye.
I wish people wouldn’t litter.
I wish the economy would improve.
I wish people weren’t so judgmental.
I wish the world didn’t need saving.
I wish I had more marketable skills.
I wish people honored their parents.
I wish people honored their teachers.
I wish people honored themselves.
I wish we didn’t care so much about celebrity.
I wish I remembered what I learned in school.
I wish I used what I learned in school.
I wish I knew how to ask for help.
I wish the truth was easier to discern.
I wish I knew what to wish for.
I have now written over 600 wishes. I may have a few duplicates, but most are unique for all that a lot of themes and ideas repeat. Here are some more of my favorites:
I wish no one would go hungry.
I wish people were more observant.
I wish I weren't so emotional.
I wish I had a purpose.
I wish I had more time to read.
I wish capitalism worked.
I wish communism worked.
I wish I weren't so insecure.
I wish people didn't lie.

I wish I knew what to believe.
I wish the government would listen.
I wish I had more faith in people.
I wish more people were into art.
I wish we respected artists more.
I wish TV news were more upbeat.
I wish power didn't corrupt.
I wish I could remember my dreams.
I wish I liked healthier food.
I wish my memory were better.
I wish everyone would plant a tree.
I wish I had more energy.
I wish people were less fickle.
I wish I could find a job I liked.
I wish we accepted diversity more.
My last batch of wishes are much less structured. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to disperse any of them and may not get the chance to do so until winter thaws a bit. Perhaps I'll go to the mall where people are flocking to do last minute holiday shopping, scary as that is... Anyway here are some of the new wishes:
